Main irrigation pipe (24-inch tube) in Al-Milaj Village

The old 24-inch tube has been replaced in the village because it was leaking water so much so that it is not enough for farmers, so we have replaced it. The pipe transports water from the engines for about 408 meters and 24 inches in diameter. The water is being pumped to lands about 3 km away from the engines now.

Ali Al Hassoun, Project Manager, spoke about this achievement, saying:

“…. We had two options: Either we dig a dirt wheel that irrigates an area of 8 meters of agricultural land and thus lose 3 and a half donums of land along the pipe, or we replace the pipe, so that only half a dunum has been consumed. The implementation was extremely difficult, moreover, it needs a lot of experience because of the nature of the agricultural land, as this pipe is the main irrigation pumping pipe in the millage, where the irrigated area has been increased by 80% from what it was before the implementation…”

The implementation began on 15.08.2019 and ended on 12.09.2019.

We decided to improve the quality by adding backing-up flanges to support and maintain the pipe.

Some residents were walking on the pipe in the winter, to avoid walking on agricultural roads, which led to the transformation of the form of the pipe from a circular cylindrical shape to an oval shape. On the other hand, we cannot prevent the people from that, but we can strengthen the pipe to prevent any transformation in its form by adding ” backing-up flanges” to strengthen it.
